Falwell says he'll sue for Christmas snubs

Falwell says he'll sue for Christmas snubs:

Conservative U.S. evangelist Jerry Falwell has announced he will sue any group that alters or forbids traditional Christmas events.

Falwell has linked his 24,000-strong congregation with the conservative, Florida-based conservative legal organization, Liberty Counsel in what he calls the "Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign," the Boston Herald reported.

In his weekly e-mail to 500,000 people, Falwell called for resistance to such groups as the American Civil Liberties Union "and others who intimidate school and government officials by spreading misinformation about Christmas."

Mathew Staver, Liberty Counsel's president and general counsel said the move was to counter the banning of singing Christmas carols and stripping the Yule season of its roots.

"Calling a Christmas tree a holiday tree isn't being inclusive," Staver said. "It's disenfranchising people of faith. It's like calling a menorah a candle stick."

I think we ca all agree it's about time we take back the Christmas holidays from the secular humanists.

Where did the baby Jesus keep his Christmas tree? I can't find mention of a Christmas tree in the bible.

Maybe one of the three wise men brought it in on their camel? Or maybe the angels had to make a pit stop on the way to Bethlehem, stopped over a coniferous forrest and unwittingly created the angel-Christmas-tree-topper phenomenon?

Falwell is such a joke - drumming up fake ire over non-existent attacks on Christmas. Why doesn't he attack retailers and other whores of industry who prey upon the poor? That's who is ruining Christmas.
And we should keep overtly religious messages out of schools anyway - not just at Christmas time.

I guess Fallwell, (and yourself) are a bit ignorant of the origins of Christmas.

Ya see, Christmas was originally a Dutch Holiday. And it had some things you'd like, and some you'd despise.

First, for the things you'd probably despise.

Sinter Klaus (Santa Claus) arrived on a boat from Spain each year. He arrived with his faithfull white steed and his Zwarte Piets, or Black Pete's. Why were they black? Because they were Muslims!

For the parts you'd like. Even today the Dutch celebrate and little white kids wear blackface to play the part of the Zwarte Piets!

So basically we have a "True Conservative" who apparantly doesn't believe in capitalism (retailers marking a holiday in any damn way they please) and apparantly wants the dreaded government to step in and solve the problem.

Odd eh?

Oh, silly Anonymous! Conservatives today aren't even close to the same thing as conservatives in the time of Ronnie Raygun.

Oh, sure, they both like lots of military spending, but that's the only similarity - any conservative from 20 years ago would have a stroke looking at how much Bush has grown the federal government and used it to pry into private life.

Bush is a conservative in name only - he's much closer to a fascist than anything else, truth be told.

God is watching folks. He is slow to anger, but when upset, watch out!

Say, reverend...is god also making a list and checking it twice? Am I in danger of receiving a lump of coal when I reach the afterlife?

ROFLMAO...

Some people just do not understand how serious this is. I am surprised at my responses on this same subject....
